  • Each Cluster, Affinity group, and organization should have one spoke rep. 
  • For effectiveness, every group needs a rep.
  • Questions for the stack will not be fielded to people outside of the council/circle.
  • Each rep to sit in a circle with their group sitting behind them so questions and concerns can be passed directly to the spoke rep to be fielded in the council.

NEED: More coalition partners; knowledge and expertise around District financials. 

    • Carlo, Police Week / Never Newsham – Campaigning against Newsham’s confirmation as DC Police Chief. Working to plan variety of events around upcoming Police Week. Next meeting April 26th, 7pm, location TBD.

Working on: 1) Rapid Response Network to counter ICE Raids, holding ~50 trainings in the next month, 2) Accompanying people to ICE check-ins, 3) Safe Houses Network, 4) Organizing 100+ faith communities to support the work.

Leading a training for Muslims on internalized Islamophobia on May 19th.  Raising funds for medical and humanitarian aid.

    • DC Justice for Muslims Coalition:  Protest 4/26 7-9pm out front of Wolf Trap against “ambassador to apartheid”.  General need for translation and interpretation (Amharic and ????)
    • DC Queer and Trans Resistance – very open to straight ally organizations supporting Capital Pride events, as long as they’re down with centering queer and trans voices. 
    • Students / Antifa – Seems like alt-right flyering drive on 4/23 will mostly be targeted at GW and UMD, AU students are aware also. 
    • Sanctuary DMV: Need bilingual Spanish/English and Amharic/English dispatchers, calm, trustworthy, willing to go through training
    • Antifa looking to support campuses against fascism, looking to give talks, AU rep is interested
    • DC Reinvest Coalition – Looking for other partners to help with campaign against Wells Fargo.  Currently led by Rising Hearts, SURJ, 350, and others.  particular need for people with legal & financial research expertise.
